MediaTek Acquires 31.55% Stake in Airoha

MediaTek, a Taiwan-based leading chip design house, announced on December 25 that it will acquire a 31.55% stake in BenQ's subsidiary Airoha with NT$606 million (US$18.6 million; US$1 = NT$32.7). Through this acquisition, MediaTek will be able to strengthen its RF (Radio Frequency) capabilities by leveraging Airoha's RF chip-making technology used in PCs, networking equipment, and mobile phones.
